The Founders

Rob Brind Linda Kim

Rob attended Duke University and taught summer programs in Shakespeare and theater in North Carolina for Duke’s Talent Identification Program. He now calls the beautiful and diverse city of Philadelphia his home. He spent three years teaching in inner city middle schools before accepting a fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania Law school, in part due to his excellent score of 174 on the Law School Admissions Test. That was in the year 2002. He added teaching the SAT and LSAT tests to his regular teaching schedule immediately thereafter.

Two years later, Rob found himself attending Penn Law, yet dreadfully missing teaching. One year later he was back to helping students excel on standardized tests. Even after 18 years in this career, he still enjoys teaching, especially working one-on-one with students of all levels to help them reach their full potential.

Rob, and all of us here at Thought Incorporated, know that the SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT and LSAT are all thinking-skills tests. Moreover, they test our all-time favorite skills: critical and logical thinking, reading comprehension, and creative mathematical problem solving. Having read over fifty Hardy Boys novels (not to mention the 25 plays by Shakespeare he read, occasionally directed, or acted in), he considers teaching critical and logical thinking skills to be his primary purpose on Earth. We all, most certainly including Rob, know that in order to “beat the test”, a student must first and foremost analyze a piece of prose or logic game for its underlying structure. It is in these universal structures of language and numbers that Rob finds joy. Working with a wide range of learning styles and personalities is perhaps his favorite part.

He’s as laid back as a Belle and Sebastian concert and as encouraging as Atticus Finch. Cooler than the other side of the pillow? Perhaps not, but sometimes a nerd is what the doctor ordered.

Linda is an educator above all else. She studied Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) and Curriculum at the Teacher’s College, Columbia University. She has taught many students from diverse backgrounds and has offered guidance to numerous families with different educational needs.

When she was a Sophomore in high school, Linda found her passion for education. Even as a teacher’s aid for Sunday School, Linda realized that encouraging others in ways that help them become successful was possibly the most rewarding experience there is. In other words, she fell in love with working with students.

She has served as a teacher for over 30 years. She believes learning is the root of a disciplined life, and that this discipline can be learned at any age. At Thought Incorporated, we know that disciplined learning builds resilience, character, and leadership.

She currently consults with students and families and has been doing so for long enough to see more top test scores and acceptances to top schools (at all levels) than she can easily count. Working with Rob, she also creates personalized curricula. In addition, she monitors all of our students’ progress carefully and communicates to the parents on a regular basis.

Linda is also a wife, mother, sister, and daughter. She cherishes her family traditions and respects those of others. Her firm belief is that attaining a great education and future success is a family affair, and she encourages parents to be involved in wonderful ways!
