Admissions Consulting

Here, we teach students to write really well. They master effective structures of written communication that serve to cause each intended effect. Our students learn to employ techniques that elicit emotional responses. Terrific turns of phrase and powerful imagery bring the reader to tears, chills, and laughs out loud, as they truly enjoy the journey through your story, written in a narrative voice that represents you, and no one else.

Academic institutions rely more on students' essays in their evaluation process than most people realize. In fact, strong writing skills can open many doors in life and academia. Think of the perfect cover letter that enables you to get a precious interview for your dream job. Imagine applying to a Master’s program in the hopes of building your resume for a PhD application and being invited to join that same school’s PhD program anyway! Consider yourself in a position where you only hope to be given a chance to attend the school at the top of your list only to be granted a full ride to that same school! These are real success stories of young men and women we are proud to call our former clients. See our testimonials page for their well written reviews.

Academic Support

We provide support for students who are struggling in school with practically any class in grades 5 and up. We teach real study skills that help you get organized and efficiently direct your focus on areas of weakness, turning them into strengths. Our reading method works with any non-fiction text and will get you reading faster and understanding more. Our Math tutors use a theory-based approach, because isn't it easier to remember a formula you know how to derive? In short, we will teach you how to both assimilate and use knowledge faster at a higher level.

Test Prep

Standardized tests are the way institutions of higher education administer skills checks. They’re basically saying, “we have found the following skills to be predictive of success in academic settings, which of these do you have?"

We teach our students to respond, “All of them!” by focusing on holistic intellectual skill development. Rather than drilling our students on the same material over and again, we pull outside source material and keep our students engaged in the learning process with interesting vocabulary-building exercises, discussion questions, and writing assignments about AI, bad poetry, and parallel structures. For instance, any student who prepares with us for the Verbal section of the SAT will learn enough about writing to not only ace the Writing and Grammar section, but also to ace the “optional” SAT writing section. Students who study for the LSAT will learn to look at any academic problem logically, and therefore excel on logic games through a theory-based approach, gained by mastering the universal concepts and logic being tested.

Reading skills: We are unique in the market with the unique Thoughtful Reading Strategy (/trs/) that helps students find and isolate main points quickly, because it’s always easier to understand a piece of writing when you already know what it’s trying to say.

Other companies teach testing tricks only, and we also have tried and true testing tricks! But we offer so much more . . . Whereas other companies teach testing tricks only, we build real skills and teach you the theoretical underpinnings of each "trick".
